The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) won their first match of IPL 2025 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) during the seventh game at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on March 27. The team established their batting excellence while achieving their inaugural victory of IPL 2025 through this high-scoring match. 

SRH vs LSG Match Highlights

During their first batting inning of 20 overs, SRH reached 190/9. Throughout the innings, Travis Head scored 47 runs from 28 balls before Aniket Verma came late to the game and scored 36 from just 13 deliveries. LSG’s bowling leader, Shardul Thakur, obtained 4 wickets while giving 34 runs to silence SRH’s offensive effort. 

LSG easily ran down the target by scoring 193/5 off 16.1 overs. Nicholas Pooran emerged as the top player of LSG by hitting 70 runs from 26 balls, while Mitchell Marsh backed him up with his half-century of 52 from 31 balls. LSG dominated their match after their partnership finished the run chase within 23 balls of the target period.

Notable Moments

Through four wickets and disciplined bowling in the middle overs, Shardul Thakur denied SRH an opportunity to maximize their opening surge. Through his attacking bat style, Nicholas Pooran led LSG to triumph with his 269.23 strike rate that produced 7 sixes together with 4 fours. Alongside batting with great resolve, Mitchell Marsh supported his team with both his bat skills and his effective control with his bowling to limit SRH scoring. 

Conclusion

The match showed LSG’s well-rounded performance because their bowling unit, together with their batting, produced significant results. The upcoming victories will strengthen their team spirit as the tournament continues, while SRH must work on fixing their performance flaws from this game.
